Things to consider when creating a brochure or other informational piece:
Since the type that is chosen reflects in a visual image to the viewer, TeknoWizards considers all aspects of type that affect this image. They are meaning, legibility and spacing, image legibility, type as an image and dynamics.
The meaning of a word can be changed dramatically by the typeface, case, size and spacing. Lower case and small point sizes are less assuming but can harbor certain viciousness, if used effectively.
Legibility refers to three common terms: kerning, tracking, and leading. Kerning is the space between a single letter pair. Tracking refers to the average space between characters in a line. Leading refers to the space between lines of text. The spacing of type more than any other factor dictates its legibility.
When placing type over an image, the legibility of the image is compromised as well as that of the text. TeknoWizards considers this when creating images with type and works to provide the maximum legibility without compromising picture integrity.
We can use type as an image in it's own right and as a decorative element that injects non-verbal meanings into a viewer's understanding of an image.
Dynamic type is only possible in the digital medium. This form of type enhances the traditional reading of words by giving them visual expressiveness. They can be associated with sounds, movements etc. to give the reader a more interactive experience.
