An Intranet is the internal network that handles company specific information for employees. It is a way to distribute information to all personnel and provides a great resource where the employees can find information about the firm and specific information that will help them. In most companies, each department within the organization has an area of the intranet to post informative department specific items. For example, the Human Resources department could provide downloadable forms for 401K plans, the IT department could list a training schedule for various software applications and more.
